... for 17 years.Okay, so the Peron admin was overthrown shortly aftrer Eva's death. Her body, was then stolen and buried in a secret grave and stayed there for 17 years (as Che states at the end of the show) When Peron came back to power in '78, his third wife and first lady and Vice-President (the title Eva was denied) ordered the body be returned to Argentina and Juan. At this point my research on Eva stops. Where is she now? I've heard her body is on public desplay or something... is that true? Please, I need info. Thanks, Andy. |

Touche...
I think that people that display their bodies for public viewing (ex. Lenin) is VERY VERY CREEPY. |

On her deathbed, Eva told Peron that her greatest fear was that she would be forgotten.
So, Peron came up with the idea of mummifying his wife and putting her on public display. It is unclear whether Eva herself knew about this. In "Lament," Che states that "money was raised fpor a tomb. A monument to Evita. Only the pedistal was completeed." The tomb/monument was originally supposed to be 3 times larger than the Statue of Liberty. It basically was going to be Eva Peron - only very, very, very big. People would be able to neter the tomb and pass by her coffin. But, due to the musical EVITA, I think it's safe to say that she will never be forgotten. Also, she is more famous now, than she ever was when she was alive. I think I said that right. I was trying t be poetic in some way. Andy. |

If you want it...
These freaks COLLECT pictures of dead people. Poe, Elvis, Rasputin (very bloody), Tiny Tim, and Kurt Cobain are all up there. |

Actually, I don't find that pic "creepy" at all.
But, then I just saw hewr body when the exumed her unnamed grave (in Switserland) in 1977. That was interestring. She was intact. The people who brought her back couldn't believe she was dead. Andy. |

Yeah Eva Peron, is not forgotten... because of that musical. But I do not think, Eva would much appriciate the musical if she had seen it. The Broadway version does paint her as a person, who does everything to rise to the top, without regard to anyone elses feelings. And, I know somebody that was in Argentina during the time of the Perons and Evita. And she does not hold good regard for Eva Peron. Of course she was middle class... so Webber and Rice did paint a truthful light in that area.

There is a clip on Youtube from a documentary about Eva peron and they show the pics of her after her exhumation. More than 25 years after she died...she just looks like she's asleep. Her skin is tanned and her hair is shiny - very bizarre.

During the production of EVITA I was in, we found out that three "doubles" of Eva's body were made and sent to different parts of the world. The story of Eva's body is just as interesting as her life story.
But, the real Eva rests in Buenos Aries. Andy. |

Actually, if you look at stock photographs from 1952 - all the dead Eva's look different. There is a picture of Dr Ara (the embalmer) looking down at the body and it looks some sort of vinyl doll...in other pics the hairline and eyebrows are different. I believe that the Eva on show at the CTG was a fake.
