Long-time lurker, first time poster (recent-register to boot!) here!

I know practically EVERYONE has asked this question, but any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

Auditions are next week, and I would really like Belle (like every other girl in my high school!). I'm a junior, and I've been practicing for quite a long time. I've read practically every thread in the BatB forum and auditions related to it. I've watched the movie an absurd amount of times (Disney addict, since I was born) XD

I've tried to mimic Belle's mannerisms (as I read most Disney Musical characters are supposed to be really similar to their film counterparts), but I'm just concerned that my song (Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Wizard of Oz) might not be a great choice?

My voice teacher, who is also the vocal director for the show, told me it would be perfect, but I'm just kind of paranoid it's a little bit young for Belle? It does have the "dreamer" quality to it, but I dunno. I should probably just agree with my teacher, yeah?

Any and all help about song, performance, and calming down techniques would be wonderful!

This may not necessarily help, but many girls (especially in high school) that have played Belle paly her a lot like Dorothy, sometimes I can't even distuingish the two characterization-wise. Though they are very different (Belle's a lot more mature and resourceful and Dorothy's slightly more of a damsel in distress) naievety, innocence and their attitudes keep them very similar, so I think it's an appropriate song.

Well my friend used that song for BATB auditions @ our school. It ended up being between her and I for Belle. She got Mrs. Potts instead though. Nonetheless, it's a good song to use because it almost got her cast as Belle. You just need to have the vocal ability to pull it off and make it original.

although she might not be as naive as Dorothy, Belle is still not a grown woman. I think the characters are similar, so the song would be good, especially if you can pull off the dreamer quality.

The best part is that your voice teacher is the vocal teacher. If he/she did not think you had a chance at Belle with that song, he would recommended another.

Thanks for your encouragement guys! I've gotten some responses which are rather NOT in favor of me using it, which makes me horribly uneasy! XD These have made me feel a lot better about it.
