"Rent", starring The Muppets! This was an idea I had been bouncing around with a friend for a LONG time, and one of these days it will see the light of day as a fan script. Not only will the action onstage be depicted, but Kermit's directorial angst backstage ("Why did I say I'd direct 'Rent'? I should've done something easier, like 'Richard III'!"), the Muppets' tendency to stray away from the script (i.e. an impromptu "Veterinarian's Hospital" segment breaking out towards the end) and the modern premise of the show providing a lot of stuff for the senile Statler & Waldorf to heckle. Even Oscar the Grouch makes an appearance, popping out of the "illegal wood-burning stove", griping that he fell asleep for a few hours and woke up in a fourth-rate production of "Rent". (Kermit: "THIRD rate!")CAST LIST: Mark/Scooter Roger/Floyd Mimi/Janice Angel/Gonzo Collins/Clifford Maureen/Mokey Joanne/Skeeter Benny/Bert Alexi Darling/Miss Piggy (and she improvises in her dialogue that for putting her in this small part, after the show she has Kermit right where she wants him) Chorus, smaller roles, etc./Everyone else |

NO. |

I don't think Miss Piggy could accept a role any smaller than Maureen... and could you imagine her "Over the Moon"?

Please, TVAW. Muppetcasting is a long-standing tradition in the world of parody. Everything has been Muppetcast at one time or another.
| The Very Angry Woman |
That's unfortunate. |

Wasn't there just a Little Shop/Muppet cast you did?
What is it with you're obsession with Muppets and musicals? lol |

I could see Annie working, but RENT?? Absolutely not.

Especially since Bert and Ernie are clearly gay and should be Collins and Angel. Or is that Sesame Street that I'm thinking of? |

Hey, wait, what about Muppet Avenue Q... |

Funny you mention that, I did come up with a cast... |

I don't think you get it. |

Are you the same person who first proposed this cast ages ago? Because the Muppetcast is exactly the same as one posted nearly three or four years ago on a VERY old Musicals.net.

Yep. Forgot my password, and thought I had been forgotten.

Oh...right...you hadn't logged on AIM in so long, I assumed you'd moved on in life.
Anyway, yes, TVAW, Muppetcasting has been a long-standing parodic tradition. For example, Tom Smith created a brilliant example a few decades ago with The Rocky Horror Muppet Show. Since then, particularly in musical theatre, it has taken on a life of its own. Again, only a few decades ago, an artist arrested for obscenity was found to have several pieces of more innocent artwork depicting the Muppets in JCS, including Miss Piggy as Mary Magdalene. |

You mean Mr. Reubens, right? THE artist associated with an obscenity arrest?

Possibly Gary Glitter?

Can't remember who, but they weren't famous. It was some guy in Boston. He does those sidewalk art things that look realistic. What's his name...
| Monsieur D'Arque |
Ah. I was thinking of Pee-Wee Herman.

Dear lord. |
