"Pippin" revival?

Technically, there's already an existing thread on this topic, but it only had one reply (not to mention it was started over a year ago!), so consider this an updated version Razz . I would love to see a Pippin revival! I love the soundtrack; plus, I haven't seen the show since I was eight years old (it was a high school production; my cousin played Katherine). Also, it kinda baffles me that there's never been a revival to this beloved play (for all I know, there may have been one, but if there was, I don't know). So, are there plans for an upcoming revival?

I agree that I'd also like to see a Pippin revival.

Its kind of funny that I'm saying that, especially because I didn't care much for the show until my university did it, and then I fell in love with it.
Salome

I'd love ot see it revivaed.

Jesse Martin would be an amazing Lead Player. I'd love to see Ruthie Henshall as Fastrada and Gary Beach as King Charles.
Brother Marvin Hinten, S.

I don't know if he'd have to carry a tune or not, but George Carlin would also be a good King Charles, IMO.

Ooo I agree with you on that casting Salome.

That would be fantastic. Unfortunately I really don't see a revival coming anytime soon. Sad

I bet the Roundabout Theatre Company (they're the ones that did Cabaret, Threepenny, and Apple Tree) would put on an excellent Pippin revival.

I agree on the King Charles casting, but I'm thinking that Martin's voice wouldn't be quite right for LP.

it ceertainly would. if you heard him in Threepenny Opera you'd see. his voice is very Ben Vereen like.

I have not heard him in that particular show, but I have heard him in "RENT", which totally contradicts your statement. Judging by his performance in "RENT", I would say that Martin does not sound a thing like Ben Vereen.
Monsieur D'Arque

I personally wouldn't go for anyone who sounds anything like Ben Vereen. With a revival of Pippin, trying to go for the Smokey Robinson "smooth-n-lite" sound would not work for this day and age.

Not entirely. "On The Right Track" and "Santa Fe" are similar in many ways.

I really get the feeling that if Pippin were to revive in the near future it would do very well, considering it's done rightly so to do very well.

Personally I don't think Jesse is the right kind of dancer for it. And even if you want a Pippin who isn't quite as choreographed as the ensemble, I think The Player would still need that kind of upstanding and that stance in all his scenes. Very Cat In The Hat like. I know it's a crazy comparision, but surely you understand.

As sad as it is to say this, I think the cast would need someone younger.

I do think Gary Beach would make a great King though, all the way.
