"Parlour Songs"

just always wondered if these songs - "Sweet Polly Plunkett" and "Tower Of Bray" - are real songs or just thrown together for the show?

Not sure what you mean.

they were written for the show by Sondheim for the original production. "Tower of Bray" is sometimes cut from productions.

well, i just meant were they real songs from the time period or made up by Sondheim for the show itself.

its all Sondheim. he never interpolates unless there is a strong reason to.

I think Sondheim might be amused to have his carefully composed work described as being "thrown together"! Wink
