"Nobody's Side" Cabaret Piece

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums....I'm currently a junior in high school and a member of our showchoir. Every October, our school hosts a showchoir festival which about 5 or 6 choirs including our own perform. Between showchoir performances, we have between acts. Last year was my first year in the choir and I was the opener for the show, singing and playing "I Know The Truth" from Aida. I'm a second soprano, but I feel most comfortable in my alto to mezzo sopr. belting range. My break is between B flat and C....

So, I've recently fallen in love with "Nobody's Side" and I have a program that could possibly transpose it down a few half steps if need be... but I was wondering if anyone has seen this song done at a Cabaret-like performance like this and if it was well done. I've got several choices and this just popped up and I'm considering it. Just wondering if others think this is a good idea.

Thanks! Very Happy
Slaine

Welcome to the forum.

I'd guess that Nobody's Side could be good but you'd either need a backing track or a group of backing singers to pull it off.

Try going to Youtube and putting in Nobody's Side - there are a few hits on there that will give you the idea of what it will look like as a stand alone piece.

I don't like Julia Murney much but this isn't a bad video and will give you an appreciation of what's involved.

Aw, thanks, but I already've downloaded this video from Julia's website.

She does some really funny things during this performance. Especially with her hands. It makes me laugh.

Thanks, anyways.
