"Being In Love" from the movie: sheet music?

Hi, everyone! I recently watched the movie of "The Music Man" with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones. (I LOVED it! Just a fabulous musical.) I really loved the song "Being In Love" that Marian sang in it. I haven't been able to find the sheet music for it anywhere, not even in the original full song book. Can anyone help me out with this? Thank you!
Mara

From memory, that song is only in the movie, not in the actual show. I think in the actual show it's "My White Knight".

That's correct, but I don't like "My White Knight" near as much as I do "Being In Love". I was hoping to find the sheet music to "Being In Love".

I like that one better, too. Actually, I don't really like "My White Knight" at all. It is the one song I dislike in the show.

Anyway, I tried to find vocal selections for the film a little while ago, but they don't seem to exist (unless I just have been looking in all the wrong places). So, I don't know how easy it would be to find it, if all.

Maybe you could try just looking for music by Wilson. Who knows? It may help. I have pretty much given up on finding it, though. If you do find it, let me know! OK? Smile

is this being in love?

Being in love used to be my fav'rite dream.
Oh, yes.
I've been in love more than anybody else has.
I guess.
My first love heroic'ly ran the streetcar.
I tingled at ev'ry clang clang.
Next I fell for the principal
But, oh that teacher who sang "In the Gloamin'."
Knee-deep in love--what a lovely dream!
And yet, somehow,
Me deep in love's only half of what I'm longing for now.
I still love my being in love with someone,
But tell me, why couldn't there be
Somebody being in love with me?
All I want is a plain man.
All I want is a modest man.
A quiet man, a gentle man
A straightforward and honest man
To sit with me in a cottage somewhere in the state of Iowa...
And I would like him to be more interested in me
Than he's in himself and more interested in us than in me...
And if occasionally he'd ponder
What makes Shakespeare and Beethoven great.
Him I could love 'til I die.
Him I could love 'til I die!
Being in love--what a lovely dream!
And yet, somehow,
Being in love's only half of what I'm longing for now.
And so then,
Tonight I'll be in there dreaming
And hoping that someday there'll be
Just once!
Somebody being in love with me...

if thats what your looking for that song is called my white knight.

You'll get alot more music sheets on my white knight than being in love.

Don't worry you won't get the disney version for some odd reason that is no where to be found...

No, they are not the same song.
They have some similar lyrics and some of the tune is the same.

Below are the lyrics to "My White Knight" which are from the original stage play. The ones above are from "Being in Love", the movie.
I know this because i grew up listening to the movie soundtrack and learned all the songs well. But then later I got the broadway version, which is different (naturally), and that song is not the same.

MY WHITE KNIGHT
(c) 1957 M. Willson

(Marian)
My white knight, not a Lancelot, nor an angel with wings
Just someone to love me, who is not ashamed of a few nice things.
My white knight who knew what my heart would say if it only knew how.
Please, dear Venus, show me now.

All I want is a plain man
All I want is a modest man
A quiet man, a gentle man
A straightforward and honest man
To sit with me in a cottage somewhere in the state of Iowa.

And I would like him to be more interested in me than he is in himself.
And more interested in us than in me.

And if occasionally he'd ponder
what make Shakespeare and Beethoven great,
Him I could love till I die. Him I could love till I die.

My white knight, not a Lancelot, nor an angel with wings.
Just someone to love me, who is not ashamed of a few nice things.
My white knight, let me walk with him where others ride by
Walk and love him till I die, till I die.

Personally, I vastly prefer "My White Knight" to "Being In Love."
