"Annie"So I bought the Annie OBCR because it's pretty sure that I'll be playing Warbucks in a production this summer. Anyways, I've become attatched to the song "Annie". I looked on the MTI website, and it isn't listed. Does anyone know if this song is usually included in the show?

In the production that I saw, it was. But that was a good 10 years ago.

Well, the director who is putting on the show has liked to change things for no apparent reason in the past. I feel that she might cut "We'd Like to Thank You", "Something Was Missing", and/or "Annie". Obviously, they'll cut "A New Deal for Christmas" since our production will be set in summer.

When I was in this show with a youth theater -- I'm assuming that's what this is, if you'll be playing Warbucks -- the only song we cut was "A New Deal for Christmas," supposedly because ours was in the summertime, as well. But it bugs me that so many productions of this show cut the songs that establish the time period, like "New Deal" and "We'd Like to Thank You" (my favorite song in the whole show!  ) I mean, I can see how they might interfere with the plot, but I like 'em.

I agree norayouadora. "We'd Like To Thank You" really sets the time period, not just with the lyrics, but with the feel of the song. I'd hate for them to cut "Something Was Missing" because that would deprive me of 'my big song'.
EDIT: On a second thought, the director really likes my voice so perhaps (hopefully) they'll leave in "Something Was Missing". Also Sophie and the other Hoovervillians are on the cast list so I guess they'll keep "We'd Like To Thank You".

We didnt cut "new deal" and it wasnt christmas, thats a silly reason to cut something just because its not in the right season, its all make belief thats the point if its part of the story then its part of the story! thats just what I think,hehe. Yeah we didnt cut any songs at all. ans yes the sont "Annie" is in the show, i like it too.

Yeah, it wouldn't make much sense for them to cast the Hoovervillians if they plan to cut the song. So I guess that's good news.
