"A Lovely Night"-needing rangeI need to know what the range is for the song "A Lovely Night" (from Cinderella) as arranged in "A Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology" Volume 4 for Soprano. I am thinking about ordering it, but I am hoping it is arranged in a higher key before I do so.
Thank you!

It's not a very high song, as written...
And I think it would sound bad in a higher key...It's a pretty simple song.
If you are considering it for an audition, perhaps look at "Do I Love You Because Your Beautiful"...it could work for either gender as an audition song and has a bit more range and acting to it...
REMEMBER...ACTING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!

A Lovely NightThank you so much for your reply. Yes, I agree that the song is written in a lower key. The reason why I am inquiring is because I have a recording that has a range of low D to high D that I like. However the musical score that I currently have shows the highest note to be a high C. I know that it seems like not much of a difference, but the higher one sounds so much better with my voice. I don't want my local music store to go through the trouble of purchasing the score at this time if it isn't in the higher key. I am at a toss up between a couple of audition pieces at this time. Finding out the range of the song in that book will be a deciding factor for me. I am greatful to anyone that could offer this information to me.

I believe the high note is a D. And if memory serves me correctly, "Beautiful" goes up to an E.
Anyway, just listen to Jazzy; stop focusing on range. It's a great song- just sing it already!
