"2 Big Sopranos"My high school show hasn't been announced yet. Our Director is considering three shows. The nosy-theatre-kid-rumor-mill has already determined two of the three shows, based on clues given(Good News, and Singin' in the Rain), and for the third, all we've been able to get is that it has '2 big sopranos' (I don't know what one could mean by 'big') I think she said something about it not being done often, but, I don't think that was a major part of anything.
Does anyone have any ideas for shows that have '2 Big Sopranos'?

The following shows all have two lead vehicles for Sopranos(according to my research:
-Boys from Syracuse (don't know much about this one)
-Grease (doesn't fit the profile of lesser-known, though)
-Pal Joey (again, I'm not familiar with thise one)
These shows have a lead soprano and a supporting one/two supporting ones:
- A New Brain
-Annie (I think we can say this one's been done alot...)
- Bugsy Malone
-Cinderella (actually, has three, apparently)
-Into the Woods
-The King and I
-Oklahoma
-Phantom of the Opera (unless you're doing it illegally, probably not...)
-Ragtime
-Show Boat
-Sound of Music
-Titanic (which means big...)
Shows with multiple sopranos (not leads or supporting)
-A Little Night Music
-Allegro
-Follies
-Jane Eyre
-No, No Nanette
-Passion
I haven't been able to find a show that appears to have two large sopranos, but those are all the shows that have multiple sopranos. A few of them have references to big or fat within the show, but that may be a stretch.

Jane Eyre is written mostly in the alto-mezzo range...
The only soprano song in it per se is "Finer Things"...
As for the shows...I dunno...Just practice your high C's! LOL!

Maybe she means Side Show...Though one is more of a mezzo...
That could be LOADS of fun!

The LEAD is an alto-mezzo, but Blanche Ingram and several other female characters (small) are considered sopranos.

Erm...that's illegal. So many people talk about doing it, though. A private school I know of is supposedly doing it later in the year. My friend said she has enough connections to get an audition, and she'll take me if I want, but I have two reservations:
-doing a show that's illegal
-doing a massive, famous show that requires amazing talent in all areas (eg: singing, acting, dancing, lighting, coreograhpy, set design, etc) with a HIGH SCHOOL. There is no way they could find the talent, and I'd be embarassed even to attempt it (anyone seen that middle school Phantom youtube video...?)

But couldn't it have been "Phantom"- the other musical based on Phantom of the Opera by Yeston and Kopit (sp?) That has two sopranos (Christine and Carlotta) and it is legal because it is not the ALW version.

Yeah, I just realised that. I figure that's probably what the OP meant. As far as the private school goes, I don't know, since when I shouted rather loudly "BUT THAT'S ILLEGAL," my friend hushed me like no-one was allowed to know about it.
