"13" the musicalHas anyone else seen this show? It's a new musical by Jason Robert Brown starring 13 teenagers and dealing with what it is to be 13. I'm not sure what to think of it yet. The music was really good, but there were way too many times that I felt like I was watching a high school production, and while they were all teenagers, you should be able to perform to a different standard in a professional theatre. It also was odd that the majority of the kids were primarily dancers, some were singers, and almost none were really actors. I don't know, what do other people think?

I think I would like to see that, because I am 13. Where did you see the production?

In L.A. at the Mark Taper Forum. I think it's doing a pre-b-way tour.

Haha. My sister and I auditioned for that... I was too old, she too young.

I auditioned for it too, lol I think I was probably too old as well.
I saw it last night - it was really cute. Kind of corny, but in a good way.

I should probably go see it. I like the Music Center. I feel so trendy and sophisticated down there.

I really liked it, except now I have "Being a geek is the loneliest thing in the world, its a crime its a curse, it the worst, because being a geek is the loneliest thing in the world. you're always wondering what every one's laughing about, and wearing the horrible clothes that your mother picked out..." stuck in my head. My favorite song (which of coarse I don't remember the words too ) is The Meaning of the Word Friend

It sounds interesting, but I doubt it will make it to Broadway now that Spring Awakening took the teen angst title.
I really want to see more from Jason Robert Brown, but after hearing Parade I feel like this is a step down (Granted, I have not seen it, but it doesn't appeal in the same way).

Parade should be revived with a different name. Seriously amazing show with a very non-appealing title equals very short run on broadway. Someone like "The Case of Leo Frank" might sound a little more interesting.

13 was cute. I hope it goes to Broadway or at least off- so I can get a recording. My friend Kathy and I fell in love with the lead and have been fighting over ownership for about a week.
My one qualm was it was kinda like "Footloose for Middle School." I mean, even the title song sounded very similar to Footloose's title song. But the music had me smiling, so I'm cool

I think "Parade" is a perfect title for the show.
:the case of Leo Frank" sounds like a history lesson.
