Forgive a dumb question, but does anyone know why her name is 'Ado' Annie? Is it short for something, do they explain anything in the show? Her father calls her Annie.
I was just at auditions last night, and I'm curious. Or is it just an accepted thing.

I dunno... That's not a stupid question, it's a good one. I can give you some guesses, but they are just guesses.

One friend, who played Gertie, told me that she thought 'Ado' was short for adopted. Yeah...

Another friend, who played Will, thought it really meant 'ado,' like ah-do, the word, and Oklahoma people just pronounced it wrong with the accent. Like they pronounce the peddler's name Ali Hakim instead of A-lee Ha-keem.

My friends used to bicker about it all the time. I'm not sure either is right, but I thought their guesses might be better than nothing. Anyone have any better suggestions?
