*Cabaret* Revivals/ Klub Design Concept/ ?'s from a Director

I am currently directing a production of the 1987 version of *Cabaret* at my American university. For the theatre space we are performing the production in, it is being "re-imagined" as if it were actually the Kit Kat Klub. I have decided to emphasize the desperate state of the Weimar culture before the rise of the Third Reich by having a barren scenic (and costume) design with limited set pieces... in fact, the only furniture I'm using in this production are eight chairs and a table. I know that there have been past productions and revivals of *Cabaret* with similar concepts (such as the '98 Broadway revival, in some respects...), and I was just wondering if anyone who has seen/participated in these productions remembered how they handled the issue of breaking the window glass in Herr Schultz's Fruit Shop, as well as Cliff on the train at the beginning/end of the show. I have some ideas on how I want to handle this, but I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions? My production opens in less than a month, if anyone has any ideas, please pass them my way soon! THANK YOU!!!

In the recent Broadway revival, the train station scenes were just done with the actors sitting on the chairs and the occasional train sound. The window scene was done with the Emcee standing on a chair with a rock behind his back while the scene went on, throwing the rock onto the stage at the appropriate time and the sounds of breaking glass being heard.
